The Foundation aims:
- To attract and encourage donations, gifts, bequests, endowment trusts and other forms of financial assistance to or for the benefit of the Gallery.
- To attract and retain for the Gallery the continuing interest and financial support of the community.
- To establish a corpus to raise income to achieve the objects of the Foundation.
- To apply the income of the corpus for
- the acquisition of works of art and objects of historical, educational and social interest.
- the acquisition of land and buildings and other facilities for use by the Gallery and also for structural alterations and improvements.
- the Gallery to participate in, lend and borrow works of art for any exhibition.
- the Gallery's programs, including exhibitions, displays, publications, research projects, scholarships, endowments, fellowships, overseas and interstate travel by the Gallery's staff and visits from overseas and interstate artists, art experts and teachers.
- To accept, purchase, lease, hire and otherwise acquire and to sell, let, lease or otherwise dispose of works of art and objects of historical, educational or social interest.
- To do all such things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects or any other of them or to the preservation, development and improvement of the Gallery's collection and the facilities and operations of the Gallery
